You look just like our dog Benji, when we had him. You look some what bigger though. Your eyes look like Benji's. I would like to give you a big hug. Would you ask Paul to give you a big hug for me?
Benji was part black lab and part cocker, the runt of the litter when we went to get him. He was lots of fun for our two boys who now have boys of their own. Benji did not like water, even though most labs love it.
Some of our friends called Benji a Christian dog. Well you see when we lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan we lived in a story and a half house. It was upstairs that I would do my devotions. If I was upstairs and I decided to read my Bible and pray, it didn't take long, I would hear Benji running up the steps. He would sit on a blanket at the foot of the bed, while I read the word.
Occasionally I could be in the living room downstairs and decide to read my Bible and pray, Benji would come running and sit right beside me, until I was done.
One time we had to leave town for a wedding. Our pastor said he would watch Benji for us. When we got back to the pastor, his wife said, "You know, I think your dog is a Christian."
I said, "Oh, why?"
She said, "Well, everytime pastor would sit down to read or pray, Benji would sit right beside him."
At times I had ladies over for a prayer meeting. As we were sitting in a circle, taking turns praying, that dog would sit in front of the person who was praying. This dog sensed the presence of the Lord.
You must be a blessing to your family too. Say "Hello" to all of them for me. Lois
Thank you Paul and Gus.

Desert Ministries has a radio program that is some times taped right at a nursing home or care center to give encouragement to the older forgotten gems in our world. Their web site has a link, 'Send an email to Gus'. Gus is a friendly looking black lab, and is well known by Paul's (Gus's owner, webmaster and director of Desert Ministries) radio listeners who are residents in many care centers in Omaha, Nebraska. Just for the fun of it, I sent an email to Gus. I told him about the black lab (Benji) our family had when our sons were school age. Paul chose to share Benji's story at a gathering of care center residents and it was heard by residents listening to the radio in their rooms.
