If You Played with the Universe

If you played with the universe, planted the stars,
and set galaxies firmly in place --
what care would you have for a heart's weary sigh
or the tears on a child's frightened face?

If you strode across time where no boundaries exist,
with eternity's shell in your hand --
what care would you have to count breaths of a dove
or to measure each granule of sand?

Comprehension of greatness means knowing each fiber
is needed to weave the design;
the strands are the wholeness, the whole is the strands,
and each leaf to a star is aligned.

Every whimper of pain, every squeal of delight
holds the voice of the Ultimate All;
each molecule carries a thread of the power
that answered God's genesis call.
