Many men are being challenged DAILY with sexual temptation….visual, mental or physical. It is a $12,000,000,000 industry in the United States!! It is a tool that the devil is using (unfortunately, very successfully) to separate men from God, their families, their jobs and $$$$. Depending on which study you read 15-70% of Christian men regularly act on this temptation….many are becoming sexually addicted. Every Man’s Battle….Winning the WAR on Sexual Temptation One Victory at a Time….

New Four Week Series: The Gathering will present Every Man’s Battle to coach men to overcome the temptation of pornography and sexual addiction. This series offers men an opportunity to obtain help and hope in a safe environment. We use the resource EVERY MAN’S BATTLE by Steve Arterburn.

	The Final Freedom by Douglas Weiss, Ph.D. Practical steps on how to get clean and stay clean. 101 Practical Exercises: A Christian Guide for Sex Addiction Recovery by Douglas Weiss, Ph.D. (Available directly from Heart to Heart Counseling, P.O. Box 51055, Colorado Springs, CO 80949) The workbook contains very helpful written exercises for the recovering addict, from early to later recovery. Most effective as part of a mentoring process, not as a stand-alone resource.
	The Pornography Trap by Ralph Earle & Mark Laaser If you’re flirting with this devastating addiction, or if you’re counseling others who have already crossed the line, Earle & Laaser help you understand the core issues related to sexual sin and give insight into developing a biblical view of healthy sexuality. A must read for pastors and counselors!!
	Men’s Secret Wars by Pat Means The story of one Christian leader’s moral failure and recovery; the factors that lead to the formation of “secret lives” among Christian men. Includes Leader’s Guide for Group Study.
	Pure Desire by Ted Roberts A pastor presents the steps to healing sexual addiction from his own experience.
	When Good Men Are Tempted by Bill Perkins Highly readable book on temptation, by a pastor and popular men’s speaker. Possibly the best explanation in print on how God wired men sexually. Very educational for wives, although it will probably be upsetting.

Internet Filters

Three Web sites are highly recommended for information on filtering Internet porn. Arguably the most helpful is http://www.getnetwise.org/ sponsored by AT&T. The site explains the various technology approaches to filtering, allows you to load in the criteria you want in a filter, and then shows you which technology best fits your preferences. A site that offers an analysis of filters from a Christian perspective is http://www.filterreview.com/ sponsored by The National Coalition for the Protection of Children and Families. Though helpful, this site is not as detailed as the AT&T site. Finally, http://www.covenanteyes.com/ provides on-line accountability by not filtering, but tracking every site visited and sending a monthly activity report to two accountability partners. This tracks all sites passively and allows an accountability partner to keep the password so it can’t be disabled or secret ‘back doors’ found by the tech savvy.
