Alpha

Many people, whether new Christians or long-time ones, have questions that need answering. It is human nature, and cannot be helped, nor should it be. The answers to these questions help give us faith in hard times, even when reason tells us that we cannot go on. ALPHA is a program to help people explore Christianity and find some answers. ALPHA is:

Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. People of all ages are welcome.

Learning and laughter. It is possible to learn about the Christian faith and have fun at the same time.

Pasta and pie. Eating a meal together gives people an opportunity to get to know each other.

Helping one another. The small groups give you a chance to discuss issues raised in the video talks.

Ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is regarded as too simple or hostile.

While ALPHA is for anyone who wants to learn about the Christian faith, it particularly caters to:

ALPHA is a short, practical, 10-week course. Attendees meet every week beginning at 6:30 with dinner, followed by a video and a talk at 7:30. Afterwards, everyone breaks up into smaller groups to address questions that have been raised during the talk, with the meeting ending at 9:30.

Included during the course is one weekend session consisting of a Friday evening and all-day Saturday. There is no cost for Alpha, however a manual may be purchased at a cost of $7.00 for anyone who would like to follow along and make notes.

The course itself was actually started in England 20 years ago, and now there are more than 32,000 ALPHA courses being run all over the world, with over 2,500 in Canada. So, once any 10 week course is up, there's always the opportunity to find another ALPHA course.

Course completed December 7th for the season. Watch for the new Alpha line-up in the New Year!
