Music and Worship

Congregational Singing

"Blended worship" is a term that describes music at St. James. We use both the new Anglican hymnal, Book of Common Praise, and a supplemental booklet of CCLI-registered contemporary songs. Both the organ and the piano are used during the service.

The Choir

The choir at St. James consists of 10 very dedicated individuals. The choir repertoire consists almost exclusively of four part, contemporary Christian music. Choir practices are Thursdays at 7 p.m. Major choir events include the annual “Advent Service of Lessons and Carols”. New members are always welcome; being able to read music helps, but is certainly not necessary.

Help Required!

A number of choir anthems are written with optional accompaniment by guitars and percussion. Currently, we are looking for musicians who can play these instruments, both to accompany the choir and eventually to be integrated into the service itself.
